Service Overview
RPA operates and maintains a dosimetry service to ensure the effective monitoring of occupational radiation exposure. This service provides radiation measuring devices to individuals who may be exposed to ionizing radiation in the course of their work. In addition, its primary responsibility is to monitor, measure, assess, and control radiation doses received by individuals who are occupationally exposed to radiation, as well as to support regulatory compliance and national radiation safety objectives. By requiring personnel to wear dosimeters, RPA safeguards workers, supports compliance with national and international radiation protection standards, and promotes a strong culture of safety in radiation-related environments.
Section 6(b) of the Radiation Protection Agency Act 2018 mandates the RPA to operate and maintain a Dosimetry service. The service is fundamental to the effective implementation of radiation protection programs. Its work not only protects the health and safety of radiation workers and the public but also promotes the safe, secure, and peaceful use of radiation and nuclear technologies in line with national legislation and international best practices.
