Safeguarding Lesotho’s Future through Radiation safety and security

The Radiation Protection Agency (RPA) is a body cooperation established in 2025 following the enactment of the Radiation Protection Agency Act, 2018. Our mandate is to regulate the safe and secure use of ionizing radiation for the protection of people and the environment.

A safe and secure Lesotho protected from harmful effects of ionizing radiation.
Our Mission
To provide independent regulatory oversight, control the use of ionizing radiation in Lesotho by implementing effective policies and ensuring compliance with national and international standards for safety and security.
Objectives
• To ensure that the radiation sources and other radioactive materials are used exclusively for beneficial and peaceful purposes

• To provide for protection of human health and the environment against harmful effects of radiation.
